Just three riders started the ride on a warm day – Tony Conliffe, Les Gardner and Wayne Croker. There were a couple who thought about coming but for the temperature forecast, but it turned out not so bad – a max of 30, low enough for motion to keep us cool.
After a quick chat about the Dakar, we broke our wrists per the new regulations and started out on a general wander here and there. See the route map below.
Some of the tracks were a bit skaty and rutted after the December storm, and the country was greener than expected. No walkers on the six foot track. Tony led mostly and Les for a bit.
A front puncture for Tony simultaneous with a loose steering damper thingy for me – no spanners on the KTM!
Late lunch at the Hampton Hotel – not a bad steak sandwich and a cool drink – before Les went west and Tony and I headed east.
All good fun.
Wayne.
