Wisemans Ferry Ride Report

Such perfect weather for a ride – crisp clear air and 10 to 20 degrees through the day. Ten of us met at Wisemans Ferry – four regulars, two old friends and four new members.

It was a straightforward ride through St Albans, Murrays Run in the Watagans NP and the Finchley Track through Yengo NP. We stopped at the Yengo lookout and enjoyed the distant views in the clear air. The western part of the Yengo ride has been graded, which is a shame but it’s still good fun, just not great fun. A few minor spills along the way for an anonymous new rider – it happens.

Then down to the Grey Gums for lunch, followed by a refuel at Colo Heights. Some of us went home via Windsor while most returned to Wisemans via Wheelbarrow Ridge Road.

This is where we had our only incident, when one of us (ask me who and I’ll squeal like a pig) decided the road must have taken a detour to the left, even though there was no cornerman placed at the detour and the road clearly went straight ahead. This split the group and left a cornerman to wait for riders that never came. He had to be recovered. Why is the cornerman system so bloody fragile?

Anyway, all’s well that ends well. It was a very pleasant day for a ride, the ride was fun and the company congenial.

Thanks to Graham Hayden for sweeping in the dust. And thanks to Alan Menton for introducing the guys from NCVV.
